How To Maintain Your Stained Concrete

Although your stained concrete is permanent and doesn’t flake off like paint, it penetrates the top layer of the concrete surface and will eventually wear away due to weather exposure or traffic. In order to keep the stained concrete in great condition and to not wear off, we recommend keeping stained surfaces protected with multiple coats of clear sealer. A great sealer will provide other benefits as well such as adding sheen to the surface and enhancing color intensity. You will also need to keep the surface clean by sweeping it, blowing it with a leaf blower, or rinsing it with a water hose. In order to remove stubborn dirt, scrub it with a mop or medium-bristle brush and a mild cleaner. You will need to apply a new coat of sealer every year or two, or as necessary. When you begin to notice that water no longer beads up on the surface, it’s time to reseal it. It’s always best to avoid floor designs with sawcut patterns, since the narrow cuts in the surface can trap dirt. You should only use cleaning solutions recommended by us in order to avoid harsh cleaning products. Make sure the cleaning solution does not dry on the surface. This can be accomplished by cleaning small areas and making sure the entire process is complete before moving on to other areas.

Our Favorite Stained Floor Maintenance Products

After we are done with your new floor, you should have a beautiful floor. But over time, there are ways to maintain your floor’s beauty. We recommend waxing your floor with an easy mop on wax once a year, but it all depends on the amount of traffic that you have in your home. The following products are just a few cleaning and waxing products that we recommend.

Zep Neutral Floor Cleaner

This all-surface floor cleaner comes in a concentrated formula. A single one-gallon container can be mixed with water to make up to 64 gallons. It can be mopped on or used in an automatic scrubber to clean and restore shine to your floors. It could be used on stained floors, marble, granite, and more!

Zep Wet-Look Floor Finish

After you’ve mopped with the Zep Neutral Floor Cleaner, use this product to finish off. This floor finisher dries quickly and gives your floor a high-gloss “wet appearance”. It also helps to prevent scuff marks and heel marks. It also gives your floor a long lasting shine!

Magic Blue

When your floors are dry, Magic Blue easily picks up dust and hair with static electricity! The removable pad is machine washable and it doesn’t require any special cleaning solutions. It works much better than the Swiffer Sweeper and the traditional mop.
